Telehealth Disclaimer

Emergent Mental Health Services offers telehealth services as a convenient and secure option for receiving mental health care. By using our telehealth services, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions:

  1. Technology Requirements

Telehealth services require access to a reliable internet connection, a compatible device (such as a computer, tablet, or smartphone), and software or applications necessary for video or phone communication. You are responsible for ensuring that your device and connection meet the required specifications.

  1. Limitations of Telehealth

While telehealth offers flexibility and convenience, it may not be suitable for all mental health conditions or emergencies. Telehealth services are intended for non-emergency situations. If you are experiencing an emergency or require immediate attention, please dial 911 or visit the nearest emergency room.

  1. Nature of Telehealth Services
Telehealth services are delivered remotely and may differ from in-person services in terms of interaction, assessment, and effectiveness. By choosing telehealth, you acknowledge and accept these differences.
  2. Privacy and Confidentiality

We are committed to maintaining the privacy and security of your personal health information. Emergent Mental Health Services uses HIPAA-compliant technology designed to protect the privacy and security of your personal health information. However, due to the nature of digital communication, there is always a small risk of breaches. By consenting to telehealth services, you accept this risk.

  1. Scope of Services

Telehealth services provided by Emergent Mental Health Services may include individual mental health support, counseling, medication management, and case management. Not all services provided via telehealth constitute psychotherapy. Services are delivered via secure video or phone sessions and are available only to residents of Arizona, unless otherwise permitted by law or specifically authorized.

Telehealth services may only be provided when both the provider and the client are physically located in jurisdictions where the provider is licensed and authorized to practice at the time of the session.

Emergent Mental Health Services reserves the right to determine, in its clinical judgment, whether telehealth services are appropriate and may require transition to in-person or alternative services at any time.

  1. Informed Consent

By engaging in telehealth services, you are providing your informed consent to receive therapy, counseling, or other mental health services remotely. You may withdraw your consent at any time by notifying us, and we will assist you in transitioning to in-person care if necessary.

  1. Technical Issues and Session Interruptions

In the event of technical issues that disrupt a telehealth session (e.g., poor internet connection, audio/video failure), we will make reasonable efforts to resolve the issue. If the issue cannot be fixed in a timely manner, we will reschedule the session or provide alternative ways to continue treatment, such as via phone.

Emergent Mental Health Services does not guarantee uninterrupted access to telehealth services. Technical failures, platform outages, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control may limit availability, and Emergent Mental Health Services shall not be liable for interruptions or inability to deliver services due to such events.

  1. Emergency Situations

Telehealth is not appropriate for managing acute or emergency mental health crises. If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a crisis, please call 911 or text 988 for emergency mental health support.

Emergent Mental Health Services does not provide emergency monitoring, crisis intervention, continuous supervision, or real-time emergency response through telehealth services. Clients are responsible for seeking emergency assistance when needed and understand that services are limited to scheduled sessions only.

  1. Changes in Treatment

Telehealth services may result in changes to the treatment plan, depending on the individual’s needs and progress during online sessions. These adjustments will be discussed with you, and alternative treatment options may be considered if telehealth is no longer suitable.

  1. No Guarantee of Results

As with any form of therapy or mental health service, results are not guaranteed. The effectiveness of telehealth services depends on various factors, including your participation and commitment to the process.

  1. Your Responsibility

By using telehealth services, you agree to ensure that you are in a private, quiet space during your session where you will not be interrupted or overheard. You must also ensure that you have the ability to participate in the session fully, without distractions. You acknowledge that you are responsible for accurately disclosing your physical location at the time of each telehealth session.

You agree to provide current emergency contact information and your physical location prior to or at the start of telehealth services.

Telehealth services are voluntary, and you may request in-person services when available.

  1. Consent to Communication Risks

You acknowledge that privacy risks may increase when using shared networks, public internet connections, or non-private environments, and you accept responsibility for securing your environment.

  1. Right to Suspend or Terminate Telehealth

Telehealth services may be suspended or discontinued if safety, technical, or clinical concerns arise.
